pilates:studio A offers individual private sessions, duets and trio sessions for those seeking to truly learn how Pilates can help them according to their own individual needs. Before joining a group class we require duo or trio so that you can learn the detailed and specific movements and exercises for your unique health and physical requirements. There are over 300 exercises in the Pilates Method™, and to gain the knowledge and experience of performing these exercises correctly, and determining which ones are right for you at each stage of your progress, we believe it is best to work privately with one of our Authentic Pilates™ instructors.
Private Sessions focus on using Pilates equipment and some floor work, depending on your individual needs.
pilates:studio A Special – for first time students only, available only once, a 25% discount on the first private reformer session. This session is designed to initiate the new student to Pilates equipment training.
Private Sessions – One-on-one sessions. The instructor customizes the workout to meet the specific needs of the client. We require all clients to start with at least 1 private session before moving on to duets or trios. During the private session the student will learn how to modify exercises, making them more accessible and/or more challenging, getting the most out of the workout. Our teachers are available for Private Sessions, a great way to go if your schedule is hectic, you have physical limitations, or just like the 1-on-1 experience.
Pilates with Apprentices – We are a teacher training center and part of the process to become a solid teacher is to “teach”. Pilates with Apprentices is an opportunity to take a private session with one of our trainees for much less than that of a certified instructor. Thanks for helping these dedicated candidates refine their skills.
Introduction to Mat Private – Learn Authentic Pilates™ mat exercises. Introduction to Mat is an entry-level Pilates class unique to our studio. Introduction to Mat is for those new or ‘re-entering’ Pilates and for those who just want to brush up on their fundamentals. After completing Introduction to Mat you will feel comfortable working into our on-going classes. Includes handouts.
Gyrotonics Private Session – Based on Yoga breathing and postures, the Gyrotonic Expansion System gently works the muscles of the spine using circular and spiraling motions. The Gyrotonic System enhances full mobility and articulation of the joints and spine, creating total body awareness.
Special Needs/Rehabilitation Sessions - The sessions start with a comprehensive student evaluation and understanding of student’s needs and expectations. During the session, the student will use a variety of equipment learning how to modify exercises for their specific needs. This session is done on a one-to-one basis and requires medical clearance as well as specific instructions from the student’s medical provider. Instructor and medical provider will be in constant contact updating the prescribed exercises as needed.
Duets – 2 people, one instructor. The instructor designs a workout to accommodate the needs of both you and your partner. We recommend that you find a partner; however, occasionally we have been able to match clients. If interested in finding a partner, please leave your desired day and time AND fitness level with the front desk.
Duets with Apprentices – We are a teacher training center and part of the process to become a solid teacher is to “teach”. Duets with Apprentices is an opportunity to take a duet session with one of our trainees for much less than that of a certified instructor. Thanks for helping these dedicated candidates refine their skills.
Trios – 3 people, one instructor. Unless you have prior Pilates experience, you must have completed at least 1 private session and at least one duet, before joining a trio. Combination of reformer, mat, Cadillac and chair are used based on availability. Trios are not recommended for clients with injuries or special conditions.
Trio with Apprentices – Similar to Duets with Apprentices, Trio with Apprentices is an opportunity to take a trio session with one of our trainees for much less than that of a certified instructor. Thanks for helping these dedicated candidates refine their skills.
Basic Mat – Learn the Authentic Pilates™ mat exercises. Basic Mat is the first level of Pilates mat classes. Basic Mat is for those new or ‘re-entering’ Pilates and for those who just want to brush up on their fundamentals. Once the student has mastered Basic Mat he or she will be ready to move on to more difficult mast classes.
Pilates Mat Classes – Continue into our Intermediate Mat Classes once you understand the concepts and exercises taught in Basic. These exercises will challenge your core strength and stability at higher levels. Special attention is given to abs, back, triceps and gleutial muscles. You will soon realize why Pilates is referred to as the “science of control”. Expect a more efficient golf swing, an improved tennis game, better posture and a more positive outlook on life.
Pilates Lite – This is for the student who prefers a more gentle class but still want to get all the benefits of Pilates Mat. A great class for those who understand the core moves of Pilates but want a slower pace. More modifications are given in this class and additional flexibility work is done.
Pilates Tower Basics – Are you new to the Tower or just want to hone in on the details of the fundamental Tower exercises? Pilates Tower Basics is a wonderful multi-level class with something new for everyone.
Pilates Tower – Pilates Tower classes are most often noted as the best way for students to learn how to “feel” Pilates. Tower classes allow experienced students to take their mat class to the next level. Tower classes are limited to 3 participants. The tower, or wall unit, is a great piece of apparatus for all levels of students to better engage their powerhouse.
